The latest heart stopping ride - new to
Llandudno - like a tall crane on a
construction site
looming over the chair ride and the dodgem cars, the HSBC and the
NatWest banks.
WOW! flying
chairs and golden gallopers
at the Lloyd Street corner.
The Llandudno Victorian
Extravaganza, the annual three-day Carnival in the Spring
(The May Day Bank Holiday weekend - April 29th & 30th and May 1st
2006)
It is the great Victorian steam fair
in Mostyn Street (the length and breadth of the main shopping street)
with its multitude of rides and catch-penny booths, both ancient and
modern, which attracts visitors in their thousands for a great sea-side
week-end for all the family at the start of each summer season – and it is great fun for the residents
too!
Don't forget the mid-day parade, one never knows what will be in - like
this
vintage Buick built in AD 1924 (just like it says on the number plate).
No Carnival Parade is complete without a carnival
band.
And of course a little steam engine - or even a big one:
One of several massive showmen's engines taking part this year.

There is a daily parade of
participating vehicles
(including many steam tractors and wagons),
brass bands, and carnival
troops, and also visitors and citizens in Victorian or Edwardian
costume.
The parade travels through the town streets and via the
promenade.

CROSVILLE
CENTENARY

The Llandudno Victorian
Extravaganza is
closely
associated with a display of many types of veteran and vintage vehicles
in the Festival of
Transport held
simultaneously at the showground site at Bodafon Farm Park near the
Little Orme and a bus service provided by vintage buses and coaches
operates
between the Showground and Vaughan Street Llandudno. See link below to the Official website.
The main
transport theme in 2006 is the Centenary of Crosville Motor Services,
the Chester based company formed by George Crosland-Taylor and the
French entrepreneur George Ville, which company was the forerunner of
the present bus
operator Arriva Wales.
Other features are the
evening ‘Road Runs’ when suitable vehicles on
Saturday ascend the Great Orme to the Summit and on Sunday run the
circuit of the Marine Drive.
